Solemn Wishes

Back to Yu-Gi-Oh! Poetry

While you're pretending I'm not there, dear,
I'll just keep drawing my cards

But notice what is on my field:
Yes, my Solemn Wishes, slowly bringing me back to life

500 points return to me every time I draw a card,
Even though you did your best to destroy me thoroughly

This card is a lifesaver in these dark times,
When you no longer have use for me

But just when I lose all hope of succeeding in my venture,
There is my Solemn Wishes card, reviving me every turn

You've still got Raigekis, Meteors of Destruction,
And that damned Mirror Wall that keeps you ignorant of me

But I have something that is keeping me afloat, alive,
While your Mirror Wall drains you, turns you into a slowly-fading shadow

What are my wishes, spoken so solemnly?
Well, I can't tell you those, hon--then they won't come true

But see the tearful sparkles in my eyes as I duel you,
And you'll know in an instant what one of them must be

For I miss you far too much to hate you,
Even though your actions toward me aren't the kindest

Solemn Wishes, wishes that may not be heard
But I still speak them softly under my breath

Solemn Wishes, keeping me alive when nothing else is
