Return from the Different Dimension
I had languished in your Graveyard,
But had also dueled you as bravely as I could
However, nothing seemed to be working
And so I resigned myself to defensive monsters
I stopped talking, as did you
We both became silent duelists
playing our cards facedown, lining up
defensive monster after defensive monster
laying trap after trap to try to catch each other in a lie
looking away from each other as if we did not see
trying to protect ourselves, trying to defend
from the attacks we each knew the other would be devising
But I got a hint of another move you would make,
As you placed another trap card facedown, with a tiny smile;
This made hope start to blossom in my heart
The next turn, you flipped it up, and it was
Return from the Different Dimension;
Returning monsters that we both thought were lost forever
here came my Mystical Elf and my Big Shield Gardna,
and here came your Magic Swordsman and your Dark Magician;
each one back as they should be, where they belonged
I knew it wouldn't last, that the end of my turn would signal
that they all be given back to the Graveyard,
but at least now they wouldn't be gone permanently
For we both know the power of Monster Reborn and Premature Burial,
Of Call of the Haunted, and of other such cards;
At least now, we both have hope of something more to come
At least now, there is something to reach for,
Something to build upon and live upon,
And at least now we've said our sorries
