Meteor of Destruction

Back to Yu-Gi-Oh! Poetry

I had built myself up steadily,
Almost back to 6000 points;
My Life Points and faith slowly rebuilding
Rising to meet the morning

I'd played Solemn Wishes,
Gaining back 500 points a turn;
But with a flourish, you destroyed it
And played Meteor of Destruction instead

1000 life points gone
in a flash
in an instant of knowledge and grief

1000 life points gone
pushing me back down
back into the mire of my emotions

That meteor came out of nowhere,
In words which were written, not spoken;
Magician of Faith flipped and activated,
Returning the murderous card to your hand

I could almost see your delight,
How the new love in your life lit you from within;
Meanwhile, your meteor shook my ground again,
And trembled me even as I tried to stay calm

1000 more life points gone
in a flash
in an instant of knowledge and grief

1000 more points gone
pushing me back down
back into the mire of my emotions

And to think I had offered you Blue Medicine,
Rain of Mercy, and the Cure Master's powers;
To think I had turned away my Backup Soldiers,
Thinking you were the only one I wanted

But you had no qualms about moving on,
Playing a new love who would challenge you more;
You had no trouble, and now These are final moves
Thrashing me, smashing me with Meteors of Destruction

1000 more life points gone
in a flash
in an instant of knowledge and grief

1000 more points gone
pushing me back down
back into the mire of my emotions
