What We Can Learn from Yu-Gi-Oh!
Back to Editorials
Hello, and welcome to the latest section of Yu-Gi-Oh! material on Transcendence--the section that describes the emotional and spiritual lessons we can learn from watching the series. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I get obsessed with a series, I take it to the highest level. An obsession with ideas presented gives forth a well of creativity in me that seldom dries out, and Yu-Gi-Oh! has proven to be no different. Let’s take a look at what we can learn from each of the major characters in the series first, and then look at the story arcs and see what they teach us as well.

- Loneliness need not be a seed for resentment, but rather a spark to reach out for others
- Duke Devlin
- Competition is healthy--hatred is not
- Ishizu Ishtar
- Use the past and its set precedents to guide your future
- Don’t ask for the answer unless you really want to hear it
- Marik Ishtar
- Judge not, lest ye be judged
- Do not yearn for the power which you cannot control
- accept your gifts and let others have theirs
- Yami Marik
- When anger takes you over, it consumes your spirit
